Therapy, counseling is an active, participatory process.  Its being honest with ones self in order to effect the change desired.  It is utilizing  research based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and related modalities,  such as Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Exposure and Response Therapy and other active processes that require active  engagement,  skill development, and commitment to effective long term management of life.

“Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!” Dr. Seuss.

A process

This means it takes time, patience  and self compassion.   Therapy is an active process of facing your thoughts, feelings and behaviors differently to effect change.  Initiating the change process can be scary, intimidating, but also amazingly freeing.  You do not have to do it alone.

“ You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”  Dr. Seuss.

Everyone can benefit from engaging in counseling  to increase ability to deal, more effectively, with a variety of life stresses and emotions  and move towards living a more effective and present life.  Living vs. existing, engaging vs. avoiding, being vs. controlling.

“Step with care and great tact, and remember that life’s a great balancing act.” Dr. Seuss.
