Therapy, counseling is an active, participatory process.  Its being honest with ones self in order to effect the change desired.  It is utilizing  research based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and related modalities,  such as Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Exposure and Response Therapy and other active processes that require active  engagement,  skill development, and commitment to effective long term management of life.

This means it takes time, patience  and self compassion.   Therapy is an active process of facing your thoughts, feelings and behaviors differently to effect change.  Initiating the change process can be scary, intimidating, but also amazingly freeing.  You do not have to do it alone.
